Operations, and specifically 'Defense of Naval Station Newport,' finally forced me to learn manual bomb drops if for no other reason than desperately trying to not be sunk. Pretty much always considered manual bomb drops nothing more than a 'license to miss,' despite what various example videos displayed, in 2k+ carrier games in all modes, the only thing I could get a handle on was manual torpedo drops. Just shoot me a PM, and you can join us in TS. Hit me up in game if you want to Div up and I'll farm some AA kills and help you with any advice. Yeah, they do some dumb auto-attacks if I forget about them, but generally they don't get shot down. I try to queue up an attack and then when the planes get close I take over and setup my manual drops. I have ADHD, and keeping track of all the squads can be difficult. Again, PvE and Training Room are great ways to practice this. Ships are easier to hit if they're turning away from you, but if they're turning towards your aircraft try to anticipate the turn and aim where you think the turn will end up. They have larger turning circles, but better AA. ![]() Hitting with torpedoes actually gets easier on later ships. While DBs are the USN specialty, being inaccurate keeps them from being OP effective. Even when covering most of the ship, and filling 90% of the circle, most of your bombs will miss. The USN DB drops are terrible (outside of the Enterprise AP drop). ![]() Then once I'm more comfortable I'll switch to PvE, and get comfortable there, then head back into Random battles. I usually will queue up a ship that will move, in the Training Room, but not fire back, and practice my manual drops if I'm having issues. The best way to practice is in PvE and the Training Room.
